Gene Littler, born on July 21, 1930, was a professional golfer from the United States. He was known for his smooth swing and consistent play throughout his career. Littler won 29 PGA Tour events, including the U.S. Open in 1961.
Littler turned professional in 1954 and quickly established himself as one of the top golfers of his era. He was known for his accuracy off the tee and his precise ball-striking, earning him the nickname "Gene the Machine."
In addition to his success on the PGA Tour, Littler also represented the United States in several Ryder Cup matches. He was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 1990 in recognition of his contributions to the sport.
After retiring from professional golf, Littler remained active in the golf community as a golf course architect and instructor. He passed away on February 15, 2019, leaving behind a lasting legacy in the world of golf.
